We opted to keep the locomotive and repacked it and then placed it into storage. If you are good with adhesive and an airbrush the tab could be reattached and airbrushed.

Purchased back in the day factory brand new direct from Lionel trains.

Upon closer inspection we found that due to poor packing the plastic tab that the grab rail mounts into was broken.

The sounds coming from this diesel are just awesome. Note any warranty is subject specific timelines and other parameters set forth by the manufacturer.

For the second time we removed the locomotive to obtain photos for this listing and to test the unit for complete operation.
